5-19-05: The older Julie kicked out four of the others (and I removed and sold them), but lets one continue to live in the tank - hopefully that means it's a potential pair, though at the moment the size difference is hilarious, and the big guy won't let the small one anywhere near him. 12-13-04: Bought five J. transcriptus and put them and my pretty julie in here. There's not enough 'rock' for the julies and the hecqui (only two hecqui use the shells - the others use the 'rock' pile) but there's more than enough space elsewhere - they just act a bit like Cyps. They should pair off soon and I'll remove the spares. 10-31-04: I moved the Julie out to the new 10 gal (no page for it). He's waiting until the similis 7 gal comes home - since the similis are going in the 125 and I don't want him to eat their fry or the hecqui's potential fry, he's going to be living the lovely bachelor life in the 7, revamped with rock and plenty of fun hiding spaces. He's going to be my buddy, chilling on the desk. 7-28-04: Due to some realities in my life (namely, my family can't take care of ten tanks while I'm gone), this tank has become a Tanganyikan community. Because of the rock pile in the back (well, it functions that way), and because of the too-real prospect of hybridizing, I added a couple of guaranteed fry-eaters to the tank, a Neloamprologus brichardi and a Julidochromis transciptus. Also in are the original meleagris, a small group of Brevis, and my ocellatus trio. So far the arrangement is working out well, although of course I'm prepared to remove any fish that gets excessively harassed. |
